Nenad Dizdarević is a director, screenwriter, producer and filmmaker from Sarajevo (Bosnia and Hercegovina). He is famous for his movie, Magareče Godine, which was nominated for Oscar in a best foreign-language section in 1995. For the same movie, he received the Golden Palm Award at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Valencia in 1994. He is a co-founder of two Academies, Sarajevo Academy of Arts and Sarajevo Film Academy.
Participants will begin the workshop with viewing short feature films and semi-feature films. A discussion will follow where participants, together with the mentor, will analyse the movies. In the second part of the workshop, the mentor will explain the importance of the "twist", which is the simplest yet the most effective form of practising acting in front of the camera. The "twist" will also be a basis for a short film script that the participants will write, memorise, direct and edit. It is recommended that participants bring their own computers to the workshop.
Zoran Kovačević, a Serbian photographer with ten years of experience, is a former student of FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague), who lives and works in Prague as a freelance photographer and guide. During his professional career, he worked at the Museum of Modern Arts. As a photographer and editor, he collaborated on the book with the title Diversity Management. Besides solo exhibitions, he also participated in many worldwide group exhibitions.
During 3 – day photo workshop, the participants will get acquainted with the documentary, landscape, portrait and event photography through theory and practice. The mentor will start each set with an introduction followed by practical work and a group overview of the resulting photographs. At the end of the workshop, the photos will be exhibited for visitors of the festival. It is desirable that participants bring their own camera to the workshop.
Carl Proctor strengthened his acting skills at RADA (the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). He worked as an actor in theatres, film and television. Besides working as a portrait photographer for the actors, he had a crack at directing and producing movies and theatre plays. For many years, he was one of the sought-after leaders in the selection of acting cast in London.
On the casting workshop, Carl Proctor will describe the process of casting with the emphasis on presentation material for actors. The mentor will reveal the secrets of successful photo and video presentation. The theory will follow the practical part. Carl will make portrait photographs of participants and participants will, under his mentorship, record their video presentation. It is desirable that participants bring the script they want to read in the video presentation. The recordings will be given to participants for their own purposes.
Jeremy Workman is a director, producer, editor and lecturer, known for his documentary film Magical Universe, which received numerous awards. In the film industry, he plays a significant role as a movie trailer editor and is the creative leader of Wheelhouse Creative, a company that specialises in production and marketing of independent movies.
The workshop is suitable for filmmakers (beginners and established ones) as well as for those who work in the film industry in a different way, as the workshop will help them understand the story, marketing, sales, fundraising and editing. Mentor will reveal secrets of an excellent movie trailer and show the participants how to make one, from beginning till the end. Filmmakers are invited to bring their current trailers in for the discussion and commentary.
